T.I. Set To Release A Double Disc This July, Breaks Up With Baby Mamma

According to MTV:

When T.I. releases his T.I. vs T.I.P. album — now slated for July — it won’t just be a one-on-one face off of Clifford Harris’ two musical personas. Plenty of his friends are jumping on it. Sunday night via phone from Atlanta, T.I. revealed some of the album’s collaborators, and it sounded like a red-carpet roll call at a high-profile awards show. The biggest names? A guy who knows a thing or two about split personalities and some cat who T.I. just performed with at the Grammys.

I’m working with everybody who I have an opportunity to work with,” he added. “Timbaland, I’m working with Danja [Timbaland protégé Nate Hills] today. Scott Storch, Mannie Fresh, Wyclef — [Wyclef] came through with some real worldly music and great vocals. Nelly, Lil Wayne, R. Kelly. We reached out to Ciara, gonna see what she says. Akon did his thing for me. A lot of the Grand Hustle producers: Khao, Black Mob. … Just Blaze, we did a song called ‘Help Is Coming.’ I’m basically talking about how they say the industry is suffering. Well, help is on the way. Fret not.”

Can T.I. Pull off a double disc? Many have tried and failed at making a double disc that wasn’t better off being one disc.

  4. Topshelf77 Says:

I’ll definetly be listening to the T.I.P disc 1st.

  5. S dot Says:

    I can’t wait for this CD….

Ayo, yall need to check out thefittedhat.net

Look at the shit they got about Paris Hilton & Cee-lo…crazineess

  6. Billy Cash Says:

    Yeah he got it!

  7. D-rae Says:

Of course of everyone thats out NOW…he can actually pull it off. He’s up there with the best of them. I mean if Nelly, and im not hatin, can bring out two albums of shakin ur tailfeather(Sweat) and over n over(that redundant song from Suit)…than he can most DEF… Do that and it will sell like crazy too.

  8. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh Says:

    I like T.I’s music no doubt,but a double disc is no joke,very very few rappers/artists/producers can pull it off,namely 50 Cent,Jay-Z,Timbaland,Dr.Dre,Eminem,and Ludacris.

Other than these,I really cant see any other artist come out with over 25 songs in which over half of the songs will/can be considered good if not great and have the much required replay value…

Yall remember Sweat/Suit right? There was a problem there and there will be a problem with T.I’s album….The main problem is,the artist will try and balance out the good songs between the 2,and will ultimately fail not because of the lack of songs, but because of the lack of pure chart topping bangers.
A good example of a pure chart topping banger would be a song like Wanksta, which was then followed by what some may argue is the song of the millenium,In Da Club.50 then followed those hits with yet another hit in Many Men,and on top of that,50 STILL put out another banger in the form of If I Cant.

I could get into the budget involved in such projects but T.I has a good sum of money(I would assume somewhere in between 20-30 million dollars),so financing the project wont be an issue for him.The real issue will be IF he fails to market and sell his album to 2,000,000-4,000,000 music lovers worldwide.Because then,he wont see a justifiable return for his spent capital….

I wish TIP the best of luck, but he would save himself and the consumer time and a good sum of money if he simply invested in a single album.I dont see why he cant release an album with about 23 songs…

  9. Smackz Says:

Sweat sold 3 million worldwide and Suit sold 5 million worldwide!!!!!!

How is that even close to a disappointment?

  10. D1 Says:

LOL at the 50 nut rider “Aaaaaaaargh”. Get off it homey, song of the millenium?! Get outta here.

And Nelly’s joints sold like 10 million combined worldwide, TI cant do that.

  11. Dojk Says:

soudns lik thsi years gonna be 50cent vs T.I’s double disc

  12. ExclusivelyExclusive Says:

So far, T.I. has not disappointed so I think he can pull it off. Let’s see what he has in store for the two-disc set.

  13. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh Says:

“Sweat sold 3 million worldwide and Suit sold 5 million worldwide!!!!!!

How is that even close to a disappointment? ”

    Allow me to show you:
    Country Grammar=9 million sold
    Nellyville=6.5 million sold
Da derrty Versions=975,000 units sold(Certified platinum)
    Suit=3.1 million units sold
    Sweat=1.45 million units sold
    Swaet/suit(The combination album)=525,000 units sold(Certified Gold)
    Sweatsuit(The one with grillz)=Not exactly sure,was either 479,000 or 489,000,but nevertheless,certified Gold.

Look at all those numbers, and then tell me why a weak artist(T.I has never sold anywhere close to 4 million units on a single album) releasing a double album would be a great idea.

  14. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh Says:

D1,you do know that In Da Club is the most listened to radio song in the history of music right?
So excuse me for stating the obvious, your majesty.

  15. D! Says:

HAHAHAHA ok there buddy! How long was it at #1 for? I can name numerous tracks that have been for #1 waaaay longer than In Da Club.

Oh and your figures on Nelly are wrong. Sweatsuit (the combined album) is at 700,000 in the States.

You want international numbers (including the US)? Here:

    Country Grammar 14 million
    Nellyville 11 million
    Sweat 3 million
    Suit 5 million
    Sweatsuit 1 million
Derrty Versions 2 million (not sure about this one)

Yes you’re right that 8 million isn’t the same as 14 million, but guess what? TI can’t even do 2 million. And guess what? Nelly’s first two albums have sold more than 50’s first two albums.

  16. ATL Says:

I have no idea y u 2 ae arguin about 50 and Nelly on a t.i. post but Nelly’s Dilemma was a much bgger hit than In Da Club. And Hot in Here was just as big a hit. LOL at biggest song of the millenium.

  17. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh Says:

“Nelly’s first two albums have sold more than 50’s first two albums.”

Please excuse me as I laugh at this nonsense:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA(repeat 10 times)

For a moment there,I thought you were being serious!I deal with numbers every single day, sorry, but what you posted was false dude.

Am I the only one who knows Universal were considering dropping Nelly after the TipDrill porno video came out?And ignorant people think Nelly’s music career has been peaches and cream.

  18. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh Says:

Now,do you see why I sometimes laugh at the lack of intelligence online?

Read that and then smack yourself silly.

  19. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh Says:

Btw,you have to pay to read the full article, and knowing black people, you wont be reading the full article.
But the introduction is enough to prove Jesus wrong.

  20. rick james Says:

damn nelly be sellin alot of cds….am i the only person that thinks that nelly sucks? oh yeah, me and krs-one, the originator of hip hop. but yeah, dat in da club shit did seem like the most played song on the radio i heard since like snoop first came out, but maybe i just got tired of the song. nelly coulda got played more. i know country grammar sold 14 million though. but a double cd for ti, not a good idea. yall know that its gon be a lot of bad songs on there. have u heard the psc cd? i can almost guarantee like half the songs gon be like that, and that cd sucked. but its still copped. just because he gon have at least 10 hot joints on there (from both cds combined)

  21. rick james Says:

but if he try and pull that 22.99 shit for the double cd, ya boy definitely will have the bootleg version. fuck that

  22. T-Dot Ridah Says:

Nelly’s first two CDs DID sell more than 50’s first two. I work for Universal’s Canadian Division. Nelly’s first two combined did an estimated 25 million albums worldwide. I don’t know 50’s numbers but the man himself has said he’s done 20 million. 25>>>>20!

And lookin at the American certifications will answer your questions because they are generally a good indication of worldwide numbers.

    CG certified 9 times plat
    GROTD certified 6 times plat

    Nellyville certified 6 times plat
Massacre certified 4 times plat and then the rerelease pushed it to 5 times plat.

I would like to know where you got that info about Nelly gettin dropped from? You must be out of your mind, Nelly is one of the most highly valued artists in Universal history. His albums always get first rate treatment here and internationally.

  23. T-Dot Ridah Says:

Wow and the amount of hype around the company when Sweat and Suit dropped seems very inconsistant with an artist who was about to get dropped for an Uncut video. So why didn’t 50 or Luda get dropped for their Uncut videos? And considering Nelly had sold 25 million worth of his first two albums, why would any music record label drop an artist of that viability over a video?!

  24. whoa Says:

aint nobody bout to drop nelly. dr. dre a sign dat fool in a heartbeat

  25. whoa Says:

i dont think this is gon be a good double album, but i do wanna hear the song that akon produced. dat shit praly hot

  26. D1 Says:

Dilemma (#1 for 10 weeks) In Da Club (#1 for 9 weeks)

The above info combined with what dude above said just sonned the hell out of this G-Unit stan. I’m done, go worship your 50 cent posters.

  27. mAS Says:

The olny rapper that pulled off a double disc and almost all songs were on was JAY ON BLUEPRINT2

  28. whoa Says:

^nigga did u hear life after death?

  29. K1NG Says:

I think UGK is gonna pull off the double album for sure.

Street’s Disciple wasn’t the best Nas album, but it was also a good double disc. I think everyone needs to chill, I’m sure T.I. will release quality no matter what. If he feels the music is shit, he will probably scrap it.

  30. cassidy Says:

funny how most of these posts here went about 50 and nelly when it is actually about t.i. what do u ppl got against 50?
