A Black Teenager Shoves A Hall Monitor & Gets 7 Years In Prison

In Texas, a white teenager burns down her family’s home and receives probation. A black one shoves a hall monitor and gets 7 years in prison. The state NAACP calls it `a signal to black folks.’
There was the 19-year-old white man, convicted last July of criminally negligent homicide for killing a 54-year-old black woman and her 3-year-old grandson with his truck, who was sentenced in Paris to probation and required to send an annual Christmas card to the victims’ family.
The youth had no prior arrest record, and the hall monitor–a 58-year-old teacher’s aide–was not seriously injured. But Shaquanda was tried in March 2006 in the town’s juvenile court, convicted of “assault on a public servant” and sentenced by Lamar County Judge Chuck Superville to prison for up to 7 years, until she turns 21.

Personally I just say fuck white people, Im focused on my education, and I’ll have my paper soon.I just want to live me life on a positive note with as few many encounters with white people as possible. I know not every white person is racist, but I got family members that have been in similar situations (getting alot of time for a small crime. And Im tired of the racism I see everyday. theres really no solution to it but to just avoid these people.

to comment #5 slavery happend a long time ago get over it ppl in my family were involved in a genocide in the early 90s and they r starting 2 get over it. its the past u cant dwell on in 4ever. Blacks r treated equally but when something goes wrong and its there own fault they blame it on white ppl. And the reason she got 7 yrs was b/c she was a public servant i know in new york thats a minimum of i think 3-5 years

After taking time to read the whole article from the Chicago Tribute (unlike 90% of the people who commented), I can PROPERLY comment.
Kanye said it best, “racism’s still alive, they just be concealing it.” Unfortunately that’s not the case here. Even some white teachers view this as wrong. Small towns are the worst because it’s harder for government officials to take control (i.e. race riots in Tulsa, OK in the 1920s). The most disturbing part of the story is that you have an ADHD girl who just pushed a woman to get to her medicines in prison with big time juvenile criminals. Now the girl has to fear for her life (trying to commit suicide).
Anyways, that’s my 2 cents on the topic. I’m sure ignorant people who will respond aren’t gonna read this post anyways. I just pray for Shaquanda and her family. I refuse to generalize and draw the conclusion that ALL white people are racist, and ALL blacks act like niggas. I will conclude that ALL people are NOT treated equal and ignorance has no color.
I think discrimination of income is bigger than discrimination of color. Because if that was Michael Jordan’s daughter, then she would be ok.

There isn’t any even a reason to comment on stuff like this… everybody knows racism is still alive and to deny that fact is being blind and naive. Obama presidency proves that much… (in his first month he had already received more death threats than any other president for being black… in the 21st century) even former president Jimmy Carter agrees. Black people just need to seclude themselves from white people’s judgement and choose to segregate themselves. We will may never be look at as TRUE equals and i beleive it times for us to stop trying. we have enough power and avenues of wealth to have as much concentrated power as the jews and the White people. but just like White people’s uncontrollable will to seek dominance us black people have been written and trained to fight one another and thus making it hard for us to share power. The American History of this country cripples out ability to live in unison, that’s why Latino (a people kind of removed from the american exsperience have harbored such success in America). Me along with a few friends in Texas, Georgia, New York and California, have been working together to create a strong band of brothers and sisters to move in one united direction. Our goal is merely progress towards a better future for our race. If any black person ever feels like they are alone and would like to be apart of something that hasn’t been done in our time since arguably the Black Panthers i would like yu to contact me.
