im from the bay area and im black, when i was younger i was huslting and selling all types of drugs in oakland, just to let u people know im not no square cat trying to internet bang on here. I also went to uc berkeley and made a change for the better with my life. so let me just say that this video dipicts peoples ignorance in society. these kids, including white teens, are following this stupied trend. p.s. For those that dont know. The Bay Area is most expensive place to live in the entire country( google it!). Its the mecca of software, electronics, education, stem cell research, and almost everything else. Thus like many of u know, whenever u have extremely rich poeple in a area, you’re gonna have extremely poor as well as those are born with wealth and gravitate to the opposite.

You know on one hand I have to agree that this video is seemingly promoting violence, but if it is going on why not show it? Of course Clyde could be spitting something about education and community service but if that isn’t his experience how can we expect him to promote that image?

The real problem is that our community leaders, politicians, educational systems and country have failed poor black people–not that Clyde Carson puts out this video. I happen to think the song is hot. Do I agree that this is a horrible image of black people? Yes. But it is real. I grew up in East Oakland and yeah I went to a top college and now I’m getting my doctorate but I can still recognize where somebody like Clyde comes from and I can’t hate. He is doing the best he can with what he was given. The point we should make is to give kids like him MORE not bag on them for what they were able to do with the scraps they had.
