Santa Monica, California, March 23, 2007 – Having conquered US charts –“Locked Up,” “Soul Survivor,” “I Want to Love You” —wielding his melodic, mercurial voice, Akon is flexing his critical ear with Kon Live, a personal label distributed by Geffen Records. As impresario, Senegal’s shining son was quick to solicit other imported flavor, signing Jamaican sister duo Brick & Lace as his debut act. The alliance makes perfect sense: sisters Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne had already come to regard Akon, in demand as much for his production as his vocal stylings, as their “third member.” He’s all over their album Love is Wicked, lacing lead single “Never Never” with a grimy giddy-up. Set to serve as the summer’s sultry soundtrack Love Is Wicked will be released on Kon Live/180 Ent./Geffen Records June 26th.
The video for “Never Never” premieres on Yahoo TODAY while the song will be featured on iTunes March 27th as “SINGLE OF THE WEEK.” Log onto iTunes on Tuesday and you can download the track for free for one week!
You can also see Brick & Lace live as they head out on the road with Gwen Stefani and Akon this spring. The tour kicks off April 21st in Las Vegas at The Pearl Concert Theater and wraps up June 23rd in Irvine, California at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.
Brick & Lace’s dynamic as artists and their earnest appeal stems from their songwriting
savvy. Nyanda and Nailah wrote or co-wrote every song on Love Is Wicked. In fact, the sisters Thorbourne have penned hits for Janet Jackson, Paris Hilton and recently wrote songs for Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls for her upcoming solo project. In addition to Akon, Brick & Lace teamed up with an arsenal of producers to give Love Is Wicked its versatile sound, most notably will.i.am, Tony “CD” Kelly , Cool & Dre, FULL FORCE, Ron Fair and Lenky.

They had me kinda skeptical after that chick opened with that weak-behind “no” in the beginning, but they made up for it… I love the message, but I just hope that that’s how these girls really are and it’s not just for their image. THey’ll have this as their first single, and then the next one’ll be, “I’m wide open!!” U know?? They’re cute girlz though… we’ll see how far a positive image’ll take u

1)They’re cute.
2)They look shy and uncomfortable in the video.
3)They cant sing.
4)The song sounds too 1998-ish,their next song shouldnt sound like this.

I agree on all points with pffffffffffffft.I’d just like to add that Beyonce’a lil cousin on there has the potential-physically,not vocally-to be a pop culture princess.Ya’ll know if she put down that eenage look,good-girl stuff, with that ye;;ow skin and sexy torso the mainstream loves so much, she, they both, really.could evolve into some true A-listers.Get a song from Ne-yo,a real video budget, and who knows

These girls have a lot of potential and they sexy as hell. They have voices and you here it in this record, this is what you call a first single, it stays in your head and it’s a good record in general, good shit akon.

I read your comments before watching the video and I don’t think you guys fully grasp the song. The songs isn’t about positive images their not saying that their virgins and stuff. Their simply saying how dudes act like their all that & try to come at them by flashing their money. Their saying if you come correct (by treating them like a lady)you have a higher chance of getting in their pants.I like the song, but I don’t think they’ll last long and No they don’t sound like cassie
