Tonight A Hip Hop Documentary, “Rhyme With Reason,” Debuts

Rhyme with Reason,” comes on tonights 10p.m. eastern on PBS(Channel 13 in NY). Synopsis:

Ever wonder why so many rappers seem to equate manhood with murder, gay-bashing and the sexual degradation of women?

Byron Hurt, a hip-hop fan and filmmaker, wondered, too, and a few years ago he decided simply to ask them. Armed with a video camera and a small crew, Hurt tracked down some of rap’s biggest names and conducted interviews for which some of them clearly weren’t prepared. The result is the one-hour documentary “Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes,” which airs Tuesday on the PBS series “Independent Lens”
