to me this is the 2nd part of “if i ruled the world” with nas rolling down time square. seriously this is a rapper that makes you think about your life. nas is gifted rapper theres no doubt about that.
its sad that this video is bound to not be accepted by these teenieboppers who are brainwashed on crap…Excellent video that really makes u reminisce on life…this is not even rap anymore…its simply art..good music regardless of genre…
the word “boring” seems to take on a new definition with kids today.
boring = a song that causes me to use my brain to think on lyricism, content, and concepts, instead of a hot beat where I can use no brain cells, and just grind on a chick in the club that I ain’t gonna see next week.
Anyways…classy video. Classy song, and a great intro to Chrissette M. For those who hate on this song, video, or album was either just born, or an infant when Illmatic drop, therefore those opinions hold no weight.
Damn the video is straigth heat, nas keeps it real, he is going back to the old school and i like that shit a lot!!!
Thats a classic video, for a classic song that belongs to a classic album!!!
This shit is fire, concept matches song perfectly. Little niggas who think dipset makes great videos will probablly think this shit is wack… Oh Mr X is one of those niggas..
nas king of ny.. i grew up astoria, queens, and it was like 10 min from QB. grew up listenin to nas and always thought he was and is and will be the best rapper ever.. he tells stories.. not BS.
…I always wondered how rap music would “grow-up”. This video and song nails it..Nas has always been a music historian. It’s no suprise that he would attempt and be successful in sampling a Nat King Cole joint. It’s a nice mesh of old and new, street then, street now. Having Natlie Cole at the end was a crowning touch…That video prompted me to purchase the CD…Nas was on-time with that joint.
this dude is the truth, it gives a positive look to hip-hop. People think its all gangs, guns, drugs, and money, this shit has become somewhat of a format for rhymes, every up and coming little nigga feels if he dont mention the above the public would feel hes wack, this is a perfect example on how originality can land you on top, you dont have to follow a patern to be one of the greatests.
