That type of hip-hop isn't as marketable as it used to, but with the right promotional stance, you could make anything sell. See Jim Jones and Young Joc's last efforts. Both Method Man and Ghostface had quality releases in 2006 and were left with little to gain from CD sales. The Roots, while they rarely get CD sales in the past few years, put out an extremely good product, and Def Jam did little to push it.
